In 1995, Martin Robinson Sales was first registered in order to supply services to the mining industry by means of various bolting and repair contracts. 

Back then MRS was a sole proprietor, and the business quickly grew in leaps and bounds!

In 1996, I received an enquiry to supply a secondhand refuse truck to Rand Scrap.  While locating the correct vehicle I soon realized that there was a huge need for secondhand trucks across most industries. 

Thus, I started purchasing, repairing, and reselling trucks to various transportation companies.

The first truck I ever bought didn’t even have an engine!

From these humble beginnings, MRS grew and positioned itself as a leader in the market.  We soon started up our own workshops to do repairs and build custom trailers.  During this time, we also provided transport services with our own fleet of trucks.

My favorite truck I ever owned was a 2007 Freightliner, fondly nicknamed “Plain Jane”.  She had 2.6 million km’s – yes, MILLION! – on the clock and I traded 40 rims and tires for her. 

By the time I sold her she had a whopping 4 million kilometers behind her. Talk about a workhorse!

Some highlights for MRS:

In 2008, Martin Robinson Services changed its name to Metal Road Services.

We supplied new Mercedes Benz trucks, converted to be crane trucks to

both Medupi and Kusile power stations.

We have supplied various brands of trucks and trailers to a multitude of big companies.

In 2022, we changed our business model to become a full-service consultancy. 

With our highly skilled team, we now offer a holistic approach to future and current transportation clients.

We evaluate each customer’s business model individually and advise on the best solution to implement while taking into account scalability and cost savings. 

We then source trucks and trailers according to your specific needs.

We also assist distressed businesses with buyouts, reselling and refinancing of their truck and trailer assets.
